The city of Lamego is situated near Douro River, in the heart of Douro Region, a humanity’s heritage.
Lamego is a monumental citadel, the sit of Lamego Diocese and it is the home of numerous religoius monuments. Highlights include the Cathedral, the Church of “São Pedro de Balsemão” and a Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies, which gives the name of the main festival of the City, which takes place on September 8th.
The region is also renowned for its cousine, including the famous of roast kid goat with baked rice and traditional wine production. The legendary Port wine is produced here, together with a whole range of white, red, rose and sparkling fine wines.
